Virtual University Student accepted at "Google Summer of Code" Global Program
Virtual University student Mr.Muhammad Adnan studying in MS (Software Engineering) succeeded with distinction in the “Google Summer of Code” contest and achieved “Accepted” status for the year 2010 and also received a grant from Google.
This talented student describes his achievements in his own words as:

"It was my dream to get accepted for this program and Alhumdolillah I completed it successfully. It is because of Virtual University that they delivered Quality education at my door/home and I am studying and managing my family as well"
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that offers student developers stipends to write code for various open source software projects. They have worked with several open source, free software, and technology-related groups to identify and fund several projects over a three month period. Since its inception in 2005, the program has brought together over 3,500 students and more than 4,000 mentors & co-mentors from nearly 100 countries worldwide, all for the love of code. Through Google Summer of Code, accepted student applicants are paired with a mentor or mentors from the participating projects, thus gaining exposure to real-world software development scenarios and the opportunity for employment in areas related to their academic pursuits. In turn, the participating projects are able to more easily identify and bring in new developers. Best of all, more source code is created and released for the use and benefit of all.
A total of only five students were accepted from all over Pakistan. The fact that Adnan is one of them is a great achievement.  Apart from the Virtual University of Pakistan, other scholars were from LUMS and FAST-NU.
