Welcome Note and Semester Calendar

Dear Students,
Accept our heartiest welcome to the Semester Spring 2011 at Virtual University of Pakistan. It is, sincerely, hoped that you would enjoy your academic tenure at VU during this semester especially getting enrolled under this course.
This course will provide you a significant insight into how to apply theoretical concepts onto the real life scenarios. You will come across a systematic objective identification, collection and analysis of data for the purpose of making effective recommendations related to identification and solution of problems and opportunities in management information system.
The very goal of this course is to enhance the student’s creative, analytical and investigative skills to open new vistas for learning and grooming.
We want you to be more dynamic, participative and committed. A responsible, vigilant and active role on your part is essential for successful accomplishment of your target and will be highly appreciated.
Please keep in mind the following suggestions to get through the course:
Ø      You must have a sound knowledge of STA630 to have a good grip over the research methodologies.
Ø      As the course is based on interactive learning. Therefore you are required to be active and in contact with your Instructor on regular basis.
Ø      VULMS is continuously updated. It is, therefore, advised to visit VULMS of the course on regular basis to remain updated about the course.
For the sake of guidance, VULMS of this course is enriched with contents such as FAQs, formats, general guidelines, presentation guidelines as well as rules and regulations. Furthermore, Semester Calendar is uploaded on VULMS pertaining to submission of various documents so that you may be able to streamline your activities with respect to the specified deadlines.

* Note: Presentation & viva voce will be conducted during final terms exams only for those students who are enrolled only in Final Project Course. Rest of the students will be scheduled after final term examination.

Submission of Job Confirmation Letter (JCL)

Dear Students,

As an essential requisite of the course MIS619, you are required to send your current Job Confirmation Letter (JCL) in original  at the address; Instructor MIS619, Department of Management Sciences, Virtual University of Pakistan, M.A. Jinnah campus, Defence road off Raiwind road, Lahore. UAN: 111-880-880.

Your JCL must be delivered to the Instructor as soon as possible and not later than the due date as mentioned in the Semester Calendar. It is pertinent to mention here that if your JCL is not accepted by the Documents Evaluation Committee you will NOT be allowed to proceed for remaining activities of the course. In addition, if your JCL is rejected (at any stage) you will NOT be called for presentation & viva voce even if you successfully complete and pass all the rest of the activities.

You are advised to read the specification of JCL as mentioned on the VULMS of the course (Lesson 04-Submissions) to avoid such unfavorable consequences.

  1. Avoid submitting any fake/forge document because the University has strict rules against submission of fake/forge documents. Please read Rules & Regulations (lesson 03) for further details.
  2. Keep a copy of your JCL for your record before submitting it to the Instructor.


MIS619 - Final Project-(MIS) SRS Document

Dear Students,

You are required to choose an appropriate topic thereafter for final project relevant to the area of specialization and upload the SRS document before due date as per semester calendar.

A list of topics already selected by the previous semester students has already been uploaded against the link of DOWNLOADS on VULMS for guidance purpose only. (Make sure that any of those topics may be selected but it is not allowed to submit the same work as already submitted by any other student). It is NOT COMPULSORY to select a topic from the given list. You can select any topic but it should be according to your area of specialization

Semester calendar and format for writing proposal have been uploaded on VULMS. It is advised hereby to explore the following links to get the usable helping material as well as formats:

  • Copied work will be rejected and shall be dealt strictly as per the Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • It is required to submit the proposal (not only the topic) according to the specified format as per notified schedule.
  • The format of project proposal as well as dissertation proposal is available in the ‘Downloads’ section of the course VULMS. The specified format of proposal is required to be strictly followed.

The fee vouchers for spring 2011 semester will be issued on or around April 11, 2011. In order to facilitate the students, the voucher can be payable in three installment.
